Wild Card/Saturday — 4.6.10

I moved the Jim Brannon documents thread up on Page 1 today, so you can get to it easier. Also, I’ve added JBelle’s comment from the WCC basketball tournament in Las Vegas, so you can interact re: all things Gonzaga as we wait for the 5 p.m. Sunday tipoff between Gonzaga and whichever team survives to face them in the semi-finals. Now, I’m going outside to enjoy the sunshine. Have a good weekend …

This has been botering me for a few days… and I just have to get it off my chest.

On openCDA, Stebbijo complained that someone at the SR was libeling private citizens. (http://opencda.com/?p=5086#comment-7999)

Then she lists off possible reasons that Judge Simpson set such an expensive bond in the Brannon case - reason including (but not limited to) alcoholism/drug abuse, metal deficiencies, or gambling problems. (http://opencda.com/?p=5117#comment-8010)

Question: Would alleging that Judge Simpson is a drug addict or having marital problems qualify as libel? And several of the other openCDAers have been accusing Judge Simpson of corruption. Isn’t that libelous?

Another beautiful day in North Idaho. We have been very spoiled so far this winter. To walk in thick fog in the morning and then have the sun drench us in the afternoon, not much better than that. Enjoy the day.

  • JBelle on March 06 at 11:03 a.m.

This is jBelle checking in from The City of The Meadows with your Saturday Morning WCC Tournament update. No JimmyMac sighting at this time although Tropicana Ave is rife with excitement over his imminent arrival. They have stocked, double stocked , lemon gelato at the Bellagio candy store and Dim Sum will be the first order of the lunch hour followed by Pilot Women BB at The Orleans Arena. Hopes are running extremely high here as the denizens of Bellemaison get their first whiff of mainland spring. With the entance of Jimmy Mac the happiness will be complete. Back to you, daveo.

Nic - which metal is alleged to be deficient? Gold, silver, lead? Iron, perhaps?

  • fortboise on March 06 at 12:41 p.m.

So when is the esteemed spokesman.com webmaster going to figure out how to let commenters use HTML to enhance their expression? “Security” isn’t an excuse, that problem has been amply solved.

It’s beginning to look like he just doesn’t care.

    @ Beth - tinfoil

Here’s a very interesting and I think encouraging article about the expanding and even critical role of women in the armed forces, especially their new role in Afhanistan.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/07/world/middleeast/07women.html?hp

Our daughter, the Navy Corpsman, has spent at least half of her 14 years in the Navy working with Marines. She was with a Marine Corp group in Iraq and a peace keeping mission in Kenya. She was at Camp Pendleton for several years.

    You go Gals!

  • Stickman on March 06 at 5:22 p.m.

It’s good to hear from JBelle, and her world travels. Also from Dan of the county. As a Army tank driver, I worked exclusively with the Marines, and they loved us as much as we loved them. Thanks for the update.

  • Me on March 06 at 5:47 p.m.

Stickman - the stick I got from you I think was meant for my Son. He and I hiked Mineral Ridge today and when I asked him to go he said “can I take the stick?” So I may have to visit and get another one for myself. He very much enjoyed using it on his hike.

It was a glorious day. I got my car out of the garage and we had the top down. Hiked and then stopped at O’Shays for a beer and something to eat for our reward.

    I LOVE living here!!!

  • JIMMYMAC on March 06 at 5:54 p.m.

    What up from Las Vegas!!!!

Just spotted Schmelder (sp?) From Portland U in the lobby. The plane was jam packed with GU faithful. Mrs Mac and I are getting ready for dinner at Le Cirque and taking in “O” tonite.

Where oh where is JBelle??? What is on the agenda for you and the crew tonight? Piano bar at New York New York later?

  • JIMMYMAC on March 06 at 6:00 p.m.

Tipoff is @ 530 on Sunday, DFO

  • Don_Sausser on March 06 at 6:13 p.m.

NIC lady Cardinals at regionals in Price, Utah, beat Salt Lake CC 86-76 and on their way to Nationals. Go Cards!

  • Ashley on March 06 at 6:23 p.m.

    Something to think about.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? Why?

  • Me on March 06 at 6:35 p.m.

We always go to Vegas in Feb - but I have so many friends there right now - must be so fun to all be there to enjoy the same thing. I might have to consider it for next year instead of Feb.

  • Cindy_H on March 06 at 7:20 p.m.

@Me: I’m thinking we should do O’Doherty’s this week before it gets too crazy for St. Patty’s Day. Check out your calendar for TH or FR after work and send me a note!
(Of course all Hucksters who like chewy beer would be welcome)

  • hhuseland on March 06 at 7:22 p.m.

Hey Stickman. I have approval for you to take at least 50 and maybe double that amount of maple saplings, but donm
t tarry. If they start to bud, and we can see an early spring coming, you won’t be allowed to kill the trees. Make haste.

Washington beat Ore.St, so with any luck the northwest will see two top seeded teams in the coming tourny.

  • Fork on March 06 at 7:56 p.m.

Just ate at Syringas. Once again, it reminded me why it’s my favorite place to eat dinner in Coeur d’Alene. That place rocks.

Afternoon walk around Tubbs Hill and the best sushi between Seattle and Missoula… life is good.

  • Me on March 06 at 8:00 p.m.

@Cindy - sounds good -I can do either th or fri - just let me know and I’ll be there. I’m out of work at 5 and I’m in Rathdrum, so can meet in how ever long it takes me to get there.

  • eagleeye on March 06 at 8:18 p.m.

    Don,
Post the Cards mens score when you get it . Tks.

  • eagleeye on March 06 at 8:20 p.m.

    Cindy,
What brand of beer is chewy ?

  • Cindy_H on March 06 at 8:28 p.m.

    Manly beer, of course :-)
Actually, I’m referring to Guinness, which looks to me to be heavy and dark enough to chew.
But Me says it takes like coffee, and my tastebuds are adventurous.

  • bondgirl on March 06 at 8:38 p.m.

POST FALLS TROJAN BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM JUST WON THE STATE TITLE….YEAH!!! FIRST ONE SINCE 1964—GOOD JOB GUYS!!!!

  • eagleeye on March 06 at 8:44 p.m.

Well I am sure that Suite will have some frosty Guinness for our
dock party. Remember that when we are arranging our chairs to sit in that he always sits in the one on the far right. I think that
Councilman Kennedy is going to join us. We know he likes Guinness and if it is warm enough I am sure he will be in that thong.

  • Don_Sausser on March 06 at 9:04 p.m.

Oops, the NIC Cardinal men lost to CEU, 88-80 to close their season.

  • Cindy_H on March 06 at 9:07 p.m.

I’ll take a seat in the middle, if you don’t mind. But if Mike’s wearing the speedo, I may have to reconsider.
    Just saying.

  • Bent on March 06 at 11:10 p.m.

I’m in if it is on Friday and possibly thursday… I’ll try to get Sunny to come along as well

  • Stickman on March 07 at 10:31 a.m.

Herb: My number is 765-2049, so call and leave a message and I’ll call you back so you can give me directions to where you live.

  • Stickman on March 07 at 2:44 p.m.

And Me: you are always welcome to a new stick, as long as I know where the last one ended up. In your son’s hands is appropriate, so I would think you might want to come by and pick another. My pleasure of course. Anytime.

  • Stickman on March 07 at 2:45 p.m.

And Herb; I haven’t a clue where you live, so if I need to be in a rush to do this, I need to hear from you.
