Who makes you laugh?

Amy Poehler

Humor and what makes people laugh in general are very difficult qualities to quantify. Often, the very thing that makes Joe howl makes Jane groan (and maybe re-assess her opinion of Joe). It’s that personal.

However, the Moviefone staff, never ones to shy away from a difficult challenge, have compiled a highly biased and in no way definitive list of the 25 funniest people working in movies today.

Among those making Moviefone’s list:

  • Ben Stiller
  • Amy Poehler
  • Michael Cera
  • Ricky Gervais
  • Will Ferrell
  • Ana Faris
  • James Franco

And a lot of people I’ve never heard of.

Ren and Stimpy. South Park. Bam Margera.

I guess I don’t have very sophisticated taste in humor. I’m honest about it.

    Guys like Jerry Seinfeld.

Our local and federal governments make me laugh, but I really am crying on the inside…so I guess that doesn’t count.

Bill Hicks makes me laugh, but he is dead so that isn’t funny either.

    Tim and Eric Awesome Show
    Zach Galifinakis
    Three legged dogs

Occassionally, I listen to old time radio on XM. The old radio programs from the 40’s and 50’s are really funny. Funny in a witty, clever way. Not funny having to use profanity or vulgarity. George and Gracie, Jack Benny, that sort of thing. They make me laugh.

Also George Carlin, always brings a smile. And my sons, they must have gotten a bit of my humor and sarcasm, they always make me laugh.

I just went over the list and the only one who makes me laugh who is on it is Bill Murray. Most of the rest are people I’ve never heard of or don’t think are funny at all.

Robin Williams makes me laugh, as does Bill Cosby. In fact when I pop in “Robin Williams Live at the Met” I have to have my inhaler on standby as I WILL stop breathing as I am laughing so hard.

I’m afraid that the current crop of “funny” people are pretty lame. Give me the Bill Cosbys, Bob Newharts and their peers and I will be happy.

I guess I laughed at the older comedians and actors. Red Skelton, Bill Cosby, The Bickersons and so on. All clean acts. Of late, I’ve enjoyed Gabriel Iglesias, he’s not fat, he’s fluffy. Pretty clean, uses topical humor and I laugh.

Even tho he is gone… I still love his movies…and that would be
John Candy….. Plane, Trains, and Automobiles still cracks me up.
Then Bill Crosby and Robin Williams, Jerry Senfield… I like the ones who are fun funny….

Jon Stewart nearly never fails to make me laugh.
