Well, the local Republicans under Tina Jacobson & Phil Hart may own the Kootenai County Courthouse. But they still haven’t taken over Huckleberries Online here at Online Free Coeur d’Alene. I’ll continue to call ‘em as I see him and let the chips fall where they may. You’re welcome to continue to join me on the increasingly shrinking middle ground of the North Idaho blogosphere. And to use this Wild Card to post your own threads …

He’s just there to drive Republican media narratives. And hats off to Republicans. They owned the airwaves this cycle.

I suppose that with current republican leadership, we are going to hear the term, “fat cats” more than I’d like.

I’m just waiting for the healing to begin! When will the recession end; when will the unemployed in Idaho have jobs? Let’s get those plans polished and ready to go by the end of January. We’re all waiting for the Republican solutions that have been touted since before January 2010.

@GDR
NPR is relevant to many who listen and agree or disagree. It initiates conversation and allows open minded Rep/Dems to find common ground.
You see it relevant only when it agrees with your preconceived
ideas. There’s a whole world out there that practices being human. With more similarities than differences to share, you might step outside and mingle with them, sometimes.

Attention, Berry Pickers … I have a friend who sent this note: “Just realized that I’m almost out of frozen huckleberries, and I want to make a pie for an upcoming event. Would you be able to ask your readers if they know of any sources this late in the year?”
Anyone know where she can find some huckleberries?

The guy that makes wood furniture on Government Way by the mall has some frozen berries. That’s about as close as I can get. I think they are $40. That’s pretty good. It’s called Bob’s furniture, one block from the mall on the left going north on Government Way.

Thanks CB. That’s the most flattering thing I’ve heard today. But I hardly thing 43sb measures up to the reach of the Statesman, let alone to everything News Corp manages. Please let me know if you hear otherwise.

Just got my complete season one and season two CSI: Miami in the mail today. I was out doing some mowing to reduce the grass in the yard to a sizable couple of inches before it started raining then snowing by next week. Grass really grew in the month of October, but with the Hallowe’en decorations out, wasn’t going to try to mow around them.
So, anyway, saw the mail truck go by once, then comes back a few minutes later. The package with my DVDs are later found on the deck. Over time, I plan to get all the seasons.

Sysyphus,
There is enough to go around if you are up yonder anytime my friend.
Personal recap of game:
Steven Gray: He’s gotta fill Matt’s shoes as the leader. He is more than capable of doing so.
Kelly Olynyk: As versatile a 7 footer as they come. The high level international play in the off season has chiseled his game.
Sacre: Productive but quiet night for him. No one for Bobby to bang with out there. That will soon change and I’m hopeful we get the 2009 Maui Classic Sacre.
Meech: Although he has been the question mark, he played with more poise tonight and looks more refined. It’s a good thing cuz we need his D.
Dower: Few will look like a genius when this redshirt wins WCC newcomer of the year. Looked fantastic tonight, SOFT hands.
Arop: Maybe the best all around game on the floor at any given time. Steady.
Elias: Please, in all that is holy, get healthy soon. So good that he should only be content with first team All American honors.
Newbies: tons of talent and upside but lots for them to adapt to.
All in all, the Zags have a top five front court in the nation. Really, more like a top 4 with Sam elevating his game like he has….of course this is hinged on a healthy Elias. For the first time that I can remember, our back court is the question mark. Although it was an exhibition, I think tonight helped offset some of those concerns with a deep bench at guard and Steven/Meech looking like they can hang with whatever comes their way.
Love it.

DFO
other than taking Tina’s statement and distorting it to suit you, (what’s new about that?) You are kidding yourself and many of your liberal friends if you think you’re the ‘middle’
JIMMYMAC on November 05 at 10:27 p.m.
Stacy,
good Walla Walla 08. I’m generally not a huge fan of blends but it opened up pretty nicely. Tasty but honestly as much about the nostalgia as anything.

simpleton on November 06 at 4:28 a.m.
iamyou,
Thank you for posting. Your comments about liberal “and “middle” got me to thinking. I think many of us make the error of defining other people politically based upon where we stand, i.e. anyone more liberal than me is a Liberal and anyone more conservative than me is a Conservative. I think this is where you go wrong in defining DFO. He may be more liberal than you, but by no means is he a Liberal.
I’ve notice that many here accuse others of being Liberal or Conservative, but I don’t know that everyone agrees with what those terms mean. In college I was introduced to the following political spectrum:
radical – liberal – moderate – conservative – reactionary
Radicals want to change everything often simply for the sake of
change
Liberals favor change to fixed perceived problems
Moderates waffle back and forth
Conservatives oppose change and favor the status quo
Reactionaries are so opposed to change they want to undo the
change of the recent past and return to a previous time
Obviously the above definitions are overly simplistic (hence my moniker) but I’ve always found them helpful. The problem in defining anyone is that they seldom fall into one category for all issues. I’ve heard many a self-described Conservative say that we need to change the way we’re doing things. And many a self-described Liberal resist change at all costs. Assigning labels to others, or ourselves, probably does little to further an intelligent conversation.
Sisyphus on November 06 at 9:54 a.m.
The subjective process of labeling gets us nowhere and is hardly a fruitful exercise or should be a substitute for a committed discussion of the substance of an issue.

@DFO.. Missed your post yesterday re:Frozen huckleberries.. I don’t know of any for sure sources to buy them at this point, but I could probably spare a quart from my stash. Should be enough for your friend to make a pie.. There’s a catch though.. I’ll pitch in some extra berries, and I want a pie too. :o)
