Paula Marano: considers herself a long-time eduction who's thoughtful, respectful
Kathy Sims: Been in Idaho since she was 5 ... owns 2 businesses including Coeur d'Alene Honda ... served as Idaho Human Rights commissioner ... 8 years as Republican county chairman ... appointed to take Jack Riggs' seat when he became Lt. Gov.
Paula: Education, business, jobs, and our quality of life. When there's a strong education system businesses are attracted here. Quality of life important re: how we sustained things.

Paula (large trucks on H12): Hot topic, for sure. While I
recognize the needs for the transportation and those trucks to get
equipment to source. It makes for difficult situation as it affects
communities and prospect for spill.
Kathy: I was an adviser to the ITD. These trucks bring us our communities. I will support large trucks.
Kathy
(new revenue for schools): I don't want to add new taxes onto the
68,000 unemployed citizens. The taxpayers' pockets are empty. We need to
still find waste. I'll take my business skills to business and try to
find waste and cut spending.
Paula: We should revisit Idaho jobs
and opportunity blueprint. It looks at small and middle-sized
businesses and possible incentives to bring in jobs and revenues. We
need to work in stronger way with Dept. of Commerce. Long-term, we can
build the relationship between businesses and education system. I'm
aware of University of Idaho and what they're doing with Avista and
Micron.
Paula (Obamacare): I'm relieved to know there are
resources available for all people to have some form of health care. I
realize there's still confusion and concern. We can tweak and work
through some of the problems we see.
Kathy: Like Bob Nonini, I'm
in total support of our governor and attorney general and pushing back
on Washington, D.C. She considers Obamacare to be unconstitutional.
Closing
-- Kathy says politics is fun. She's run her companies through good
times and bad since 1968. We need accountability. Next year, LCDC more
than the local education units combined.
Closing -- Paula: Notes
that we're in a library that LCDC helped build ... and said she's proud
of some of the things that urban renewal has done in this city.
