Big Hogs Take Over Sherman @ 5

I just saw this on CDA Night Out Facebook page re: this weekend’s 2010 Idaho State HOG Rally by the Lake. Quoth: “Come and enjoy an expanded agenda, spanning four days, filled with great rides, great people, a great dealership and, most of all, great riders looking for fun. Friday evening we will travel ‘parade-style’ through Coeur d’Alene to Sherman Avenue, Coeur d’Alene’s main street. Feel free to park in the middle of the street because it is blocked off just for us. The business community is rolling out the red carpet to welcome you to Coeur d’Alene. Take part in the Walking Poker Run and then get the party started with live music, dancing, hourly 50/50 draws and many other giveaways.” (AP file photo of 70th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the Black Hills of South Dakota.)

Question: Are you comfortable re: turning over the downtown to Harley-Davidson riders in 75 minutes?

    Comfortable? Absolutely!

How many times does Sherman get shut down? When is enough enough? I live here. Enough with the pandering to every little group that might bring in a buck. Over the last 15 yrs or so this has just gotten worse and worse. Give it up.

    I’m ok with it.
I will avoid the downtown area until after Labor Day, tho. The last time I was in downtown CdA in the summer months was a year ago June. Friends from Iowa were in town & I met them at Hudson’s for a burger. (my son was acting as tour-guide) Walked the downtown area last October as I was recovering from surgery. And again this spring (in the rain). I will be back beginning next week.

I know that, “Have a good day.” Can be taken as a threat to an Irishman. But, seriously, Dude. A real Irishman would be far more ready to go and party with the bikers. After all they are not quite the same as the asses at Altamont. They do use there powers for good, afterall.

Heard that HOG wannabe ‘cupcake’ was leading the parade on his mini-cycle.

It’s almost like bringing a giant busload of children to a deserted park and letting them have all the fun that they can. And the noisier the better.

Sorry keithincda: I just had to vent, over the ones that would love to go back in the day to be Hell’s Angels or Gypsy Jokers.

For once I have to disagree Truly. They might use their powers for the good of mankind, but what’s with all the noise and trying to be as loud as you can. Much like children that just want to be heard.

I apologize Truly. Don Sausser thought I painted too wide of a brush stroke in this case, which sometimes I am wont to do. I agree with him, which is rare but I felt the need to comment again.
