Wasn't it a little harder showing up for work today, after that nice weekend when the temperature finally poke through the 60-degree barrier after 6 months of cold? I was able to get 1 1/2 of my two apple trees pruned — and even planted 8 lettuce seedlings, just to get dirt under my fingernails. It was wunnerful. Now for your Wild Card …

It was a beautiful day yesterday. Tubbs Hill was crawling with people and I had many visitors and gave away quite a few sticks. Back to a little more peace and quiet today.

Tonight CNN is airing the results of their investigation into the Birther issue. They indicate it should settle the issue.
Also, a interesting article in the current Inlander magazine on the Dairy industry in Idaho. Page 20. re: chemicals in your food.

I published a link to this Inlander article Thursday here.

Working from home now, we had all joked that we’d ‘work in our pajamas’ but I sleep naked, which would be distracting at work even at home. I dressed like I always did, which is kind of funny.

A little political observation: again and again we see inconsistencies in the political debate. I realize that “both sides do it” (like that somehow makes it OK?) I do think that Rs are much better at COMPLAINING about it. Some would say Ds are woosies, maybe … or maybe more interested in the work to be done than the spin? Maybe trusting the average voter to see thru it? Maybe the “liberal media” isn’t really so liberal?
Anyway, just 2 recently come to mind:
Does anyone notice that the Ryan plan dismantles Medicare? Does anyone not remember the origins of the Tea Party was fervor over the Health care plan, and specifically ANY changes to Medicare?
Does anyone not notice that John McCain was in Libia (foreign soil, folks) criticising our president while we are engaged in that country militarily? Anyone remember “politics stop at the water’s edge?” Anyone remember what happened to ANY democrat who would do such a thing?
I don’t mind that people have differing opinions, or even that they change their minds. I just don’t like them making the assumption that I am stupid.

I am tripping on these Taliban breaking 480 people out of the Kandahar prison - the story running on Yahoo now, I just gasp. A 1,000-foot tunnel. Really? Did they watch a Clint Eastwood movie or what? That is the kind of enterprise that gives me a run-and-hide feeling. Are they tunneling under my house even now? From which sewer pipe will one of these guys emerge to bomb our men and women? We will never, ever in a million years eliminate the Taliban. We have only stirred a bees nest that will come home to haunt us in our quaint hometowns. I wonder how they treated these people in that prison - if they treated them like some of the horror scenes we have seen. If so America has some new hardcore enemies on the loose. “The War in Afghanistan: Brought to you by the makers of the War on Drugs.” Great job on these wars, fellaz, really shining example of what not to do for your country.

Thoughts on the day:
1) “Wasn’t it a little harder showing up for work today…”
a) My #1 HD drive went on a (possibly spring break) Saturday night, so yeah, it was a little harder showing up for work today, since so much of my work is on the thing.
b) Intro to a radio story: “Congress is still on spring break …”
2) “McCain was in Libya (foreign soil, folks) criticizing our president …”
Is this a great country, or what? As for John McCain, I’m afraid his best days are well behind him. I presume The Daily Show will provide the ironic juxtaposition of video clips sooner rather than later.
3) “A 1,000-foot tunnel …”
Time, dirt, and home court advantage. Seems utterly predictable to me. I’m not worried about anyone tunneling around in West Boise Sewer District’s territory though.

Is it true that Obama was not invited to the wedding?
He was, but he was afraid he couldn’t get back into the USA without his birth certificate.

Duane,
If you want to know the truth behind the rumors… here’s a good place to start: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/weddingsnub.asp

nic, it doesn’t matter. If it doesn’t come with a photo of Obama with a bone in his nose, they simply refuse to believe it.

Hi Phaedrus and nic,
Phaedrus, I have the distinct feeling that Obama is able to come into and leave this country as it suits him, unlike me since I need to renew my passport.
Nic, thank you for the link. It was informative.
People have been telling me about this all day. I have been pretty much limited to my blackberry.

Duane,
The right-wing intertoobs also went nuts yesterday about the lack of an Easter proclamation from the White House. They forgot to check that neither Bush nor Reagan ever issued an Easter Proclamation either.
The right-wing media goes bonkers every half-hour, whether there’s a reason or not. And any intelligent person’s response to right-wing rumors and smears should be “it’s almost surely false.”
Why would you take it seriously?
