Press: Wanda Quinn Pick Gets A+

Although critics say the deal was rigged from the get-go - and we have been outspoken critics of the tendency for school board trustees to retire/resign and then appoint their replacements, rather than let voters decide - we can't argue with the selection of Quinn. While Quinn is the most likely of the finalists to represent a continuation of recent board policies and programs - support for superb but controversial offerings like International Baccalaureate classes, as well as giving qualified teachers a strong voice in determining what novels should be read in high school - she also is the one candidate who clearly is most qualified to jump right in at such a crucial time in public education/Mike Patrick, Coeur d'Alene Press Editorial Board.
