Clerk Explains Forum’s Electronics Ban

HucksOnline just received this message from Coeur d'Alene City Clerk Susan Weathers re: candidate Adam Graves' complaint that he can't use his iPad at a candidates forum Thursday:  "First I would like to review the format for the CDATV Candidates forum.  Since this forum is televised, our goal it provide an opportunity for the voters to learn about the philosophical viewpoints of the candidates, how well they know the issues of the City and, as a potential leader of our community, their ability to  “think on the feet”.    That being the focus of this forum, the candidates are not given the questions prior to the forum.  The first time they should hear them is when they are on the dais.  Candidates are sequestered in a room prior to appearing on the forum.  To maintain the integrity of the forum, to assure that all candidates have a “level playing field”, and to prevent an unfair advantage between candidates, all electronic devices are prohibited in order to eliminate the participant from sending to or receiving information from outside sources.   Since you cannot send or receive information on paper notes, we do allow candidates have paper notes."

Question: Reasonable explanation?
