Police, Fire Billboard Touts Wannabes

In the “Ask & Ye Shall Be Emailed” Dept, HucksOnline has received this photo of the billboard, paid for by Coeur d'Alene police & fire unions and the Kootenai County Sheriff's Deputies Association, endorsing Coeur d'Alene City Council candidates John Bruning & George Sayler. The billboard can be seen on Northwest Boulevard at Lakewood (near Lake City Senior Center). The three groups also backed incumbent Ron Edinger. But Edinger asked not to be included with Bruning & Sayler because he didn't want to be seen as running with them as part of a ticket.

Question: Are you surprised that the local police, fire, deputies are taking such a strong step to support certain candidates in the 2011 city elections? And/or: Who will have more influence in this election: local public safety employees or the Reagan Republicans?
