Press: Anyone Up To The Challenge of NIC Board?

Today's Press editorial is lamenting that as of press time*, no one has officially declared a run for NIC Trustee.  The opinion reads:

As it stands now, the game is this: Nobody has announced her or his intentions to pursue seats held by Judy Meyer, Mic Armon and Ron Vieselmeyer. That probably shouldn't be alarming, but because the filing deadline is so close - Aug. 31, one week from Friday - we didn't want to assume the first horserace scenario. Those who decide to jump into the fray can anticipate spending a lot of time and perhaps even money trying to convince voters of their worthiness as candidates. And for the three who succeed, four years of meetings, intensive study, social functions and conflict resolution await. Oh, did we forget to mention that those who serve in this capacity are paid nothing?

*BREAKING NEWS:  Just got off the phone with NIC Trustee Mic Armon.  "I am running," he said.  Armon has been on the board for 12 years.  He stated that he believes consistency with a new incoming college president is important for a smooth transition and historical perspective.  He cited the college's involvement within our community and also the impact of KTEC opening this fall as priorities he will focus on as trustee.  Photo courtesy of NIC.

Hat tip to Mr. Armon for throwing his name in again.  Has anyone heard of another possible contender for the NIC Trustee elections?  What would be the benefit to not announcing until Aug. 31?  If you want the spot, why wait?
