One year my thirdborn came home with a wild tale of his Mutton Busting adventure while on a field trip with his 1st grade class at the Spokane Interstate Fair. "I held on for dear life," he said, his blue eyes huge. "But that sheep hated me. He threw clear across the ring and I landed on my butt!"

This story concerned me because the permission slip clearly stated "No rides or activities that cost extra $$ will be allowed."

When I asked his teacher for the scoop, she gently explained that my son obviously had a talent for fiction.
