Centennial Stops Viks, In 5A Title Game

The Centennial High girls basketball team finally gets its shot at redemption, and the Patriots will do so against the defending state champions. For the first time in three seasons, a District Three team will be playing in the 5A state championship when the Patriots (20-5) take on Lewiston (21-4) at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Idaho Center in Nampa. Centennial has not played in the title game since 2009 when it lost 54-50 in overtime to Coeur d’Alene. The Patriots posted their last state championship in 2006. They’re more than ready for another. “If we can play like we did tonight, then I think we have a chance,” Centennial coach Emery Roy said. “We’ll see if we can keep it going”/Rachel Roberts, Idaho Statesman.
