For Those Keeping Score At Home …

… the board of trustees are meeting today at 1 p.m. to discuss the vacancy created with the voiding of Wanda Quinn at the district office. Quinn, the much-respected former, long-time chairwoman of the board, was booted from the current board by a judge, who ruled the board last spring appointed her illegally. Stay tuned.

Correction: School Board member Tom Hamilton reports today's executive session is scheduled to discuss a student discipline issue. The board vacancy likely will be discussed Monday.

Good morning, DFO - that is actually incorrect. The Board does meet today but it is for a student discipline issue and those meetings are not open to the public. The next public meeting, at which we will most likely discuss the vacancy, is scheduled for Monday, the 27th. That meeting will be noticed and an agenda posted shortly I am certain. Also on tap for Monday night is a Community Chat at Bryan Elementary scheduled to begin at 6 PM.

    Hope that helps…

    Thanks for correction, Tom …

I hope that I am reading it correctly, that the discussion regarding the Wanda Quinn issue will be done in open and not behind closed doors.
Most everyone knows what is going on here and it should be out in the open where all parties go on the public record.

Too bad the info here was wrong,. I showed up and walked into a workshop of sorts for teachers, I think. Screwed up my day as I had other plans for midday. ugh!

@Yabetcha … sorry … got correction out front as fast as I could. Didn’t know whether to take original post down or leave it up with the correction. As penance, I’ll treat you to free pop and good grits again next year at Blogfest 2013 ;-)

@TWolf - those discussions will most certainly be held in public as is required not only by statute but simply put, is how good government should behave.

The community chat is an opportunity to have a two way discussion with the Board as well. We had hoped that the subject would be public sentiment / thoughts on the levy / bond issue but I would imagine there will be more than that on people’s minds these days.

    Hope to see you there.

@DFO - it is also likely important to note where the meeting is being held if you post a notice as you did with this one. Sometimes our meetings are held at the District Office and not the MidTown Center. That information is always included in the posting that comes out from the Clerk of the Board (posted at www.cdaschools.org). It sounds to me like YABETCHA may have ended up at the wrong place today HAD we actually been holding an open meeting.
