Arpie: Don't Folo Reagan R's Model

Arpie (re: Johnson: Model after Obama success): The Same DFO who decries Jeff Ward’s tactics is now encouraging the Dems to pick them up. First, this doesn’t make sense. Let’s add to the politicization of what were non-political seats. This helps no one. Second, what does following Ward get the Dems? There are few independent voters that would be swayed by an endorsement by local Dems. I think Johnson has some strong and valid points. Mostly, It is not the old guard that will lead us out of the wilderness. Getting some young and newly elected together with Bruce Reed and Jim Messina and thinking long term campaign is what it will take. Johnson’s ideas of taking on education and starting in college towns are also worth pursuing.

DFO: The Reagan Republicans have succeeded in being organized, able to target sympathetic voters and hard working. There's nothing wrong with any of those values. They are wrong in targeting nonpartisan races to push some candidates who are under-qualified or unqualified. But they know how to work for their goals.

Question: Is their a group out there that is in a good position to counter hardliners who are pushing partisanship on nonpartisan councils and boards?
