Tim Herzog, write-in candidate for Todd Tondee's seat writes re: proposed Kootenai County government change:
Government, by the nature of it, isn’t as efficient as a well run corporation, if their actually is such a thing. There will never be a perfect solution in government but the current system does subscribe to “Government by the People, for the People”. That is because we as citizens have the RIGHT TO VOTE! Taking away your right to vote for and against elected officials does not maintain democracy as we know it. Kootenai County is the 3rd largest county in the state and Ada and Canyon counties, with larger populations and budgets to deal with, seem to operate fine under our current system. There is absolutely no examples to show that this proposed change is a better option and will save the taxpayers money. In fact, there have been approximately 8 similar attempts around the state to change the form of government and they ALL FAILED. Full comment here.
Question: What do you make of Tim's point that no other county has approved change in the county government structure despite the number of years that the law allowing a vote has been on the books?
