‘Ferris Bueller’ Actor ♥’s Idaho

Ben Stein, the roll-calling professor in the 1986 movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," loves Idaho. Many of you know that he has a summer home on Lake Pend Oreille in Sandpoint. Wednesday, he wowed the Boise Metro Club annual gala by praising Idaho to the max:

  • RE: Idaho ‘paradise’: “We parked ... virtually on the grass of the Capitol, and walked down some steps and into a tunnel and into the Capitol,” Stein said. “Not one guard, not one metal detector ...”
  • RE: Idaho trust: “It’s the same way in Sandpoint,” he said. “Everybody trusts everybody, everybody respects everybody. ... You don’t do anything particularly bad because you’re all in the same wonderful club, the Idaho Club.” More here.

Question: Sometimes, with all the nasty politics in Kootenai County, I sometimes forget what a wonderful place this is. What wows you most about Idaho?
