Herzog: RRs Back Govt Changers

Tim Herzog: Here’s a fact, the RR’s are endorsing 2 incumbent candidates for county commissioner who are pushing to change the form of county government. Not one of Idaho’s 44 counties have done that although there have been attempts…all failed! I was opposed to that change in 2008 as in 2012. A recent “My Turn ” article which I submitted to the rival paper was published a few weeks ago, outlined my position and some on-line surveys have also shown that change to our form of government is not popularly accepted. The RR’s claim that their endorsed commissioner candidates are ‘conservative’ yet adding a commissioner-manager position that will likely cost an additional 150K and eliminating 4 elected positions in favor of appointees, doesn’t sound conservative to me. Our current form of government is effective because it maintains the necessary checks & balances. As i said in my article, the wheel is not broken, just some of the spokes need to be replaced! Question: Are the Reagan Republicans, indirectly, backing the ballot measure to change county government since they're backing the two incumbents who put the issue on the November ballot?
