PFPD Handles Crash, Gas Leak

On Post Falls Police Department Face book wall: "(At 11:34 p.m. Monday) the Post Falls Police Department responded to an accident in 200 of E4th Street, after being advised that a vehicle had crashed into the side of a residence, hit the natural gas line, and caused a leak. Officers determined that the gas leak posed a risk to the entire area. They evacuated numerous residents within a several block radius. Kootenai County Fire and Rescue also responded and assisted officers in the evacuation process. Together, they secured the area until Avista Utilities arrived and repaired the broken gas line without any further incident. All residents were able to return to their homes. Post Falls Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, Karen L. Williams, who was allegedly highly intoxicated. Williams was taken into custody for DUI and booked into Kootenai County Jail.
