CHS Boys Cage Coach Quits Abruptly

Coeur d’Alene Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach Kent Leiss has resigned from his position effective immediately for personal reasons. This afternoon, Assistant Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach Darren Taylor was named interim coach for the remainder of the season.  The team has three regular season games remaining and then the regional play offs which begin Feb. 15. Leiss has been the varsity boys basketball coach for ten years at CHS.  “The Viking community would like to thank Coach Leiss for his commitment to the basketball program and the students of Coeur d’Alene High School,” stated Athletic Director Todd Gilkey.  “During his tenure Coach Leiss led the Vikings to multiple regional titles and state tournament appearances including second place in the 2007-2008 season.” Leiss received Coach of the Year for the Inland Empire League in the 2007-2008 and 2010-2011 seasons/Greg Lee, SR.
