Letter: Regan ‘Joke’ Bad, Not Racist

Fortunately, I was present at the Post Falls American Legion at our Legislative Town Hall meeting, on Saturday, 26 January. I witnessed Brent Reagen’s now famous “Just like Obama, black and scary” quote. I feel compelled to comment, having lived in nine states and two foreign countries. Racists have two things in common, hate and fear. They are cousins. Most hateful men are fearful. I consider Brent’s remark to have been in poor taste and perhaps insensitive. It was not racist. If Brent were a racist, he would have been afraid to repeat the remark. Brent’s only “SIN” was being politically incorrect/Jim Connell, Coeur d'Alene Press, letter to the editor. More here.

Question: At the Coeur d'Alene School Board meeting this evening (5 p.m. at Midtown Center), do you expect Trustee Brent Regan or the other trustees to discuss Regan's insensitive, anti-Obama joke Jan. 26?
