Brent: In Praise Of USPS

Brent Andrews: "I already told my mailman, Gary, he is doing a good job and if he has to stop Saturday delivery that's fine so long as he will still carry my postcards to the west coast for a few pennies. Nobody else would do that. I love him for it. We are going to kill the U.S. Postal Service I believe, and we will be worse off without it. When the corporate bigs charge the actual cost plus profit for carrying my postcards to San Francisco or Idaho, I will fondly remember Gary and the peaceful army of letter carriers who lost one now and then, but worked cheap and believed in what they were doing." Question: I agree with Brent. Our government squanders money hand over fist. I consider it absurd that it can't underwrite an institution like the post office that provides an essential service for many. What do you think?
