Letter: Props For Vigilante Deer Killer

We live very close to where the current poached deer have been found, and though I don’t agree at all with the fact they’re being left for dead, I completely support whoever is getting rid of these deer as they’re a complete nuisance around here just like the wolves are in other areas. We have had several years worth of meetings with Dalton City Hall about how something needs to be done about this epidemic, and they offer no solutions and not much more than an attitude of “quit your whining, we think they’re cute.” They destroy almost everything my parents and neighbors plant for livelihood. I’ve hit one and have to spend about $100 I don’t have to replace my headlight. They are as prevalent around here as rats in NYC and they need to be stopped as they just keep breeding/Lisa Nelson, Dalton Gardens, letter to the editor, Coeur d'Alene Press. More here.

Question: Should the Coeur d'Alene area consider killing urban deer -- as Helena, Mont., does -- to make roads and gardens safer?
