For Those Keeping Score At Home …

... The Seattle Mariners were trailing 6-0 to the San Diego Padres during my daily noon walk around the city of Coeur d'Alene. I listened on my radio head set as back-to-the-future newcomers Michael Morse struck out and Raul Ibanez tapped out to pitcher in the second inning. Announcer Aaron Goldsmith and color man Rick Rizz were reporting the action during the first game of spring training. The exhibition season is opening a week earlier this year. The snow was flying sideways as I walked. But Mariners baseball in Peoria, Ariz., created a bit of sunshine in my soul.
