Panel Suspended Sans Board Action

Christa Hazel reports on the community chat conducted by the Coeur d'Alene School District:

Last night's community chat provided an opportunity for questions regarding the hiatus "decision" (by the School Board re: the Long-Range Planning Committee).  Tom Hamilton was not in attendance due to illness. Superintendent Bauman explained Mr. Hamilton has been 'mistaken' with his assertions that the Board made and official decision about LRP.   She stated she spoke with him about this earlier in the day.  No official vote was made prior to placing Long Range Planning on hiatus and therefore no meeting minutes regarding this decision are available.  This was a decision made between the Board Chair and the Superintendent.  The board plans to rectify this at the March 4 board meeting. Based on comments last night, the board may or may not choose to reinstate this community-based committee.  Committee members serve 4 year appointments and meet monthly to update the Long Range Plan, study district buildings and programs plus help provide feedback regarding levies."
