Christa: Trustees Endanger Park Use

Christa Hazel: I am concerned about Person Field and the appearance, in my opinion, of the unwillingness on part of our school district to engage in any meaningful dialogue to find a mutually beneficial resolution. It is the School District, not the City, that is imperiling the public’s ability to use Person Field as we have for decades. The School District has tried to push this through quickly with as minimal notice as legally allowed by law. The School District is eager to sell public property without regard to whether or not it remains public property. The School District would have already opened up for bid and received proposals by now if it had not been for citizens speaking up to this issue AFTER they read it about it here on HBO. The timeline for the urgency is manufactured and created solely by the School District opting to put a new district office at the front of the priority list — ahead of the school bond remodel work.

Question: Do you believe the Coeur d'Alene School Board is endangering continuing public use of Person Field by pushing too hard to sell it quickly?
