Person Field: Jr. Tackle Up In Arms

Huckleberries has learned that the Coeur d'Alene Junior Tackle program circulated the following email to its members Tuesday morning:

"There is a very important public meeting about the fate of Person Field this Thursday at 5:00 PM at the CDA Library lower meeting room on 702 Front St. This is a meeting between our officials at the School Board and the City Council, where they will decide if Person is a City Park for the next 200 years or a 42 unit housing project. It is extremely important that you and your Junior Tackle Players show up to this meeting to show these people the real value of the piece of land the school calls “non-productive”  and the Mayor was heard saying that it is not needed by the City. (Mayor Bloem disputes this statement.) This has turned into a pissing match between elected officials and lawyers, and the only losers will be the children and families of Coeur d' Alene, Dalton, and Hayden. Once this land goes up for auction that 7 acres of green space will be gone forever, you cannot just buy or set aside that much contiguous land in the heart of our city that the citizens can actually use. We need 500 or more people in that room, please figure out a way to make the time Thursday for your whole family to be there to help save our program and our fields."
