On The Waterfront — 6.21.13

Iron Men & Women are out in force today along the waterfront, biking Centennial Trail north of UI/LCSC building, swimming off the north shore, snapping photos of one another, and browsing Ironman ware in the Tent City at City Beach. I overheard one woman ask her female jogging companion if she was ready to run 15 miles Saturday in preparation for Sunday's race. Her partner said, "unh-uh." Overheard another woman tell her companion in disgust that the Ironman pros "are in their own little world." Whatever that means. Viewtiful day for a walk. Not too hot. Only a handful of locals were hanging out on the north shore beaches, including a woman and her dog. Threatening skies that didn't produce rain during the lunch hour chased almost all but Ironpeople away. For some reason, no one along the route asked whether I'm in training for Ironman.

Question: Anyone out there in Hucks Nation participating as a volunteer in 2013 Ironman Coeur d'Alene?
