Derek: The Woman Made Me Do It

On her Facebook wall, Cindy admits to a brush with the law: So, last night we had a brush with the law. We sat at the turn light at Franklin Park Mall for 2 cycles and the light never turned. Derek said, “Do you think I should go?” I said, “I would.” After making sure we were clear everywhere, he turned. Immediately there was the Whoop! Whoop! sound of a siren. Turns out there was a sheriff behind us in the turn lane! We pulled over and he says, “You know it's illegal to run a red light, right?' Derek's response? He points to me and said, “SHE TOLD ME TO!” I am not even kidding! More below.

Question: What would you have done, if you were in Derek's shoes?

We handed him our insurance info and it turns out it was LAST YEAR'S card and the sheriff says, “That's a $550 ticket, right there.” OMG. “What are we supposed to do when we sit at light and it doesn't change,” asks Derek. The officer replied, “I can't tell you to run a red light, but I can tell if you do, check your rearview mirror.”
He didn't give us any tickets. I think he thought it was hilarious that we ran a red light with a cop behind us.
Moral of the story: Since the Garden of Eden men have blamed their wives for their own bad choices.
Or maybe it's: If you run a red light be sure to check your rearview mirror first.
