In the last week or so, I've seen 2 or 3 uber-cons quote that William F. Buckley statement: “I'd rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.” I'd like to use that statement for this premise (w/the exclusion of hospital board candidate Jim Pierce): I'd rather entrust nonpartisan local government to random picking of names from a phone book than to endorsees of either the Reagan Republicans or United Conservatives of North Idaho.
