Experiencing Loss

On her Facebook wall, Cindy writes: "I have several friends who've never experienced loss. The loss of a parent, a child, a sibling ... They have no concept of cemetery visits, of mourning what once was and is no longer. And so they can offer nothing on weekends like this, when some of us are filled with longing for all we've lost. And yet I do not envy them."

DFO: I was dry-eyed when I laid my father to rest in 1976. But I can't visit his grave today without breaking down a bit. His grave is a short distance from the graves of two of my uncles and two of my aunts in a cemetery outside of Manteca, Calif. When I think of all the good times I had as a child with the six of them, I realize how quickly time passes. Now I'm 8 years older than my father. In visiting cemeteries, I realize that I must make the most of the time I've been given.

Question: Do you ever visit the graves of loved ones or cemeteries in general, just to reflect?
