Dan Gookin: The night of the election, I texted Mayor Elect Widmyer. I look forward to working with him toward healing this town. Yesterday I phoned Woody to congratulate him. I also phoned Kiki and Amy and left messages congratulating them. I would like you, as best as you can, to join meto help heal the divisions in this town. I am committed to doing that, despite the continued nasty and misleading comments on this and other blogs. We can rise above it. I would hope you agree.
DFO: I'm all into the healing part. But not the forgetting re: what some individuals have done to this community for years. It would be silly to have a kumbaya moment with individuals who would have shaken this community to the core had they won the mayor's seat and the majority of the council. I see the kumbaya moments as being with individuals like Randy Myers who honestly disagreed with me over the McEuen Field makeover. But who now can join me in moving on. The key to a group hug here will be for Souza, Sims, Orzell, Culbreth, you and others to quit trashing civic and community leaders (publicly and on social media sites) who have made Coeur d'Alene what it is. If your side is willing to stop the cray-cray rhetoric and start looking for the positive in this community, I'm sure the healing can start.
Question: So how would you facilitate healing in this community?
