Letter: Shame On Non-voting 75%

Only 25.02 percent of eligible voters took the time to vote in the recent election. What a shame. I just cannot see any justifiable reason why we have so many people who just don’t vote. I also believe these non-voters are the first to start griping about the way our government is run by those who are elected to represent us and look out for our interests. There is just no excuse for not voting/Dusty Rhoads, letter to the editor, Coeur d'Alene Press. More here.

Question: I have mixed emotions re: non-voters. If a person is marginally interested in voting, I don't particularly care if s/he sits an election out. In fact, the more people who don't vote, the more my vote counts. Still, I agree with the letter writer that a 25% turnout county wide is appalling. Thoughts?
