Are Younger Candidates Important?

At the Post Falls City Council debate for Seat No. 4 last night, Jason Cornwell made a comment that resonated with me. He said he was running to provide some generational balance to the council. Jason, I'd guesstimate, is under 30. He is a combat-tested veteran who served two tours and one year in Iraq -- an individual with a grasp of technology, the social media and a degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga. In other words, the type of future leader communities like Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene needs. Young mother Christi Fleischman also fit that mode in the race. Meanwhile, incumbent & probable favorite Betty Ann Henderson is 81. Jason said he's running to bring the under 33 crowd to the table in Post Falls, stating that he suspects most of the current council averages much older than 33.

Question: Remember when were told not to trust anyone over 30?
