Wednesday morning, the Spirit Lake Police Department responded to the area of Middle Ave. in Spirit Lake where a suspicious device was found in a mailbox. SLPD and other agencies were called to the scene to investigate and once bomb squad inspected the mailbox they determined it was possible the device was a grenade. A robot was brought on scene to retrieve the device and it was then determined that the device was only a toy. The scare did cause a lock down in the town of Spirit Lake and some people in the immediate area were asked to evacuate/KHQ. More here.
