McEuen Park was buzzing with activity on Wednesday as the community prepares for the soft opening of the east end of the park on Friday. Crews will begin removing fencing early in the morning and officials hope to have public access available by about noon. And the weather’s cooperating! The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid- to upper-70s. That will be the warmest day of the year so far. The public will have access to the playground, tennis and basketball courts, dog park and the family restroom facilities in the pavilion. The splash pad is complete, but water will not be turned on until later this spring. There will also be access to Tubbs Hill from the west end of the park, as well as the already open access from the east along the South Trail. The promenade along Front Avenue will also be partially open between the Resort and Sixth Street. Don’t forget the dedication ceremony on May 24. There will be speakers, food, music and a whole lot of FUN. More details coming soon/Keith Erickson, Coeur d'Alene Today.
