FishinJay: Wouldn’t Post Under ID

FishinJay (RE: Poll: Name names): I work for an organization that is often in the public eye and I wouldn't want anyone confusing my personal opinions with those of my employer. I like to participate in the political discussions and it's sad, but realistic, to expect that if I used my real name sooner or later somebody would try to drag my job into the discussion.

DFO: This is exactly the reason that I would fight any attempt to require that real names be used by blog commenters. In this town without pity, there are people who would try to undermine someone's job or career by shadowing their online activity. It has happened before. However, I wouldn't mind seeing a requirement that individuals be required to provide a legitimate emailing address and/or identification before posting here. That would add a decree of accountability.
