A 14-year-old has been arrested on an animal cruelty charge for the abuse and abandonment of a dog in an irrigation ditch in Post Falls last month. The teen is the son of the woman who owned the dog, according to Post Falls Police Chief Scott Haug. Haug said a detective assigned to the case has been conducting interviews with witnesses and his department had developed probable cause to arrest the teen on the animal cruelty charge, a misdemeanor offense. According to police, the teen threw rocks at the dog and stabbed the dog with a knife. The knife has been recovered, Haug reported. The dog was rescued to by police and firefighters from the irrigation ditch in Falls Park in late July and taken to an animal hospital for dehydration and treatment of his injuries/KXLY. More here.
