BearCat Arrives At KCSO HQ

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department offloaded its new $335,000 BearCat (Ballistic Engineered Armored Response Counter Attack Truck) this morning. Here, in the enclosed KCSD yard (just north of KCSO office), you can see the 8-ton personnel carrier built with steel armor and ballistic glass. More info here. (Photo: Duane Rasmussen)

Question: Is this an important piece of KCSO equipment? Or overkill?
