Walgreens Recalls Swastika Wrap

Cheryl Shapiro displays the Hanukkah gift wrap with a swastika-like pattern she found at Walgreens in Northridge, Calif., Monday. The wrapping paper has been recalled from stores nationwide. Story here. (AP Photo/Los Angeles Daily News, Andy Holzman)

Question: Walgreens pulled the gift wrap although Hallmark officials say the blue-and-silver intersecting pattern is based on an old Chinese vase. Did you know swastikas were once symbols of good luck and prosperity in some cultures before they became associated with the atrocities of Nazi Germany?
