Parting Shot — 1.8.14

Sandi Bloem, Coeur d'Alene's first female mayor and only mayor to serve three, consecutive, four-year terms, is presented a plaque in appreciation of her efforts by Coeur d'Alene firefighters at swearing-in ceremonies at the Coeur d'Alene City Council meeting Tuesday evening. Bloem led the city of Coeur d'Alene through unprecedented development of the Coeur d'Alene waterfront despite the Great Recession and diehard opposition from long-time political foes and uberconservatives. She and three City Council members survived a recall attempt in 2012 and continued to govern as the construction began on the McEuen Field makeover. (Photo: Duane Rasmussen)
