Marc: Extreme Weather? Seriously

I agree with Mayor Widmyer (RE: McEuen Field work behind scheduled). As a resident of Coeur d’Alene, here are my questions for the city:

  • 1. What are the penalties for failing to meet the May 2, 2014, deadline?
  • 2. What extreme weather are we talking about? This has been one of the mildest winters in North Idaho history. Has the polar vortex in the northeast somehow impacted materials for the park?
  • 3. What power does the city have to hold them to the agreement?
  • 4. If the city is going to hold them to an agreement, why is the city and the Welch Engineering putting a proposal together to get the contractor back on track?
  • 5. Why is the contractor having difficult time scheduling subcontractors?
  • A. Is it because subcontractors are busy doing other work?
  • B. Or is it because the contractor budgeted a lower amount for subcontractors and then found no one was willing to accept those dollar amounts?

Thoughts?
