The city of Coeur d'Alene issued a press release to Huckleberries Online answering some of the questions that were raised here Thursday re: McEuen Field deadlines. These include:
- Q — What are the penalties for the contractor failing to meet the May 2, 2014, deadline?
- Though this is not anticipated and CNI is working closely with the city to ensure deadlines are met, the contract agreement calls for penalties of $4,000 per day.
- One of the reasons for the possible delay was extreme weather. What extreme weather are we talking about?
- This information may have been misinterpreted. The reference to weather was in regard to future weather conditions that may impact the schedule moving forward. For example, if spring rains delay painting, or freezing temperatures do not permit ground work. The city would evaluate requests for time extensions on a case-by-case basis. There have been no significant delays as of yet related to weather that have changed the May 2 completion date.
