Out, Out, Damn Time-Warner

My wife and I escaped being held hostage by Time Warner over the weekend. The local cable TV service wanted to jack up our Internet/Cable TV/home phone/HBO bundle from $118 to more than $140. This, despite the fact that we no longer get CdATV Channel 19 as a result of the age of our TV. My wife contacted a Time Warner representative who agreed to drop our monthly rate to $110 per month, if we'd drop HBO, which we rarely watch. She did so after my wife informed her of the obvious: We regularly get direct mail from other companies offering us bundles that don't cost as much. Strangely, she extended the package for only six months. Which means we'll have to contact Time Warner again in six months to say that we'll drop the plan if rates are raised. So here's my question:

Question: Who offers the best cable/satellite TV bundle. Is it possible to tell the cable/satellite folks to take a hike, once and for all, and still get decent, less expensive, viewing through computer/Netflix, etc.?
