Lake City Teacher Wins Award

Tracy Obermayer, an advanced learning teacher at Skyway Elementary School was honored as the 2014 American Legion Idaho Educator of the Year.  Obermayer received the award at the American Legion, Department of Idaho’s annual convention held this past week in Fort Hall, Idaho. Obermayer gave a speech at the American Legion convention outlining the role of educators teaching children the importance of respect and appreciation of the freedoms they have as Americans. Obermayer is a veteran of the United States Air National Guard and her father served in WWII.  Educators were nominated through an application process. Obermayer was chosen, in part, by her application that explained how she integrates American History, pride in her country and integrity into her school day/Laura Rumpler, Coeur d'Alene School District.
