Marc: Harmed Pets Get Attention

Marc Stewart (RE: dog shooting attracts nasty remarks): People are mad at the police. Real mad. This stuff is a reflection of that pent up anger toward law enforcement and authority figures. Is right? Of course not. This dog shooting is still the talk of the town. There's also a strange societal regarding pets. In my journalism days, we'd call it animal porn. You could write about important budget issues and nobody cared. The stories got little play in the community. However, if you wrote about cat or dog being harmed, people would come unglued and want to do something.

Question: Why do we, as a community, go bonkers hen a pet cat or dog is harmed?
