Woman Swims Pend Oreille In 20 Hrs

A Massachusetts woman made history on Lake Pend Oreille on Thursday when she completed a 43-mile swim around 4 p.m. It took Elaine Howley 20 hours and 25 minutes to make the journey from end-to-end of the Lake Pend Oreille. Howley dived into the water Wednesday in an attempt to become the first person ever to swim the length of the lake solo. On Tuesday, she estimated the swim would take 18 hours to swim the 34-mile swim from Bayview to Sandpoint. Howley's started in Button Hook Bay and end at City Beach in Sandpoint/KREM2. More here.
