Huckleberries Online

On The Waterfront

I went south for my daily lunch walk today -- to check out the removal of trees between the Coeur d'Alene Resort and Sherman Avenue. The first thing that struck me was ... the clock tower. It stands out now, maybe too much, because there's nothing around it. I hope that the upgrade calls for landscaping to soften the clock tower appearance. Secondly, I noticed workers from Thorco measuring and spraying in the area of the public parking lot behind the clock tower, the area that will be replaced by Coeur d'Alene Resort lawn, I suppose. My wife and I used that as a "secret parking spot" on weekends when we drive to the waterfront to walk Huckleberry, the Beagle. Oh well, lawn trumps concrete. Thirdly, workers have torn the surface off the sitting area on the southwest corner of the resort boardwalk -- and were about to replace it. Finally, I was struck by the fact that a whole lotta work still needs to be done on McEuen Field to have it ready to go by early May.
