Sterling Banks Now Part Of Umpqua

The four Sterling Savings Banks in North Idaho are now part of the 400-bank outlets of Umpqua Bank. Signs went up this week at the two branches in Coeur d'Alene and in Hayden and Plummer. The company is calling its outlets "bank stores," hoping that customers will use the bank spaces for extra needs such as small meetings or classes, watching programs and sampling products. "The name of the game is to make banking as non-threatening as we possibly can," said President/CEO Ray Davis in Roseburg, Ore. Leza Wright, manager of the 1106 Sherman Ave. branch, said her branch fits the mold. Hours at the North Idaho branches are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside and 8:30-5:30 for the drive-ups weekdays and 24 hours daily for the ATMs. Check www.umpquabank.com/Nils Rosdahl, Coeur d'Alene Press.
