Matheson Loans Heavily To Campaign

In the race for Kootenai County treasurer, Chief Deputy Treasurer Laurie Thomas and challenger Steve Matheson has raised a similar amount of campaign funds. But Matheson's total of $16,551 includes a personal contribution of $8000 and a $7000 personal loan to the campaign. The other two contributors listed for his campaign are Trevor Yankoff of Coeur d'Alene, $1000; and Councilman Dan Gookin, $100.  Matheson has spent $4,409 and has $10,102 left for the final week of the campaign. You can see Matheson's report here. Thomas raised $10,853 during the last fund-raising period, spent $9,653 and has $1,380 remaining. She has 63 contributors have gave $50 or more. Top contributors who gave $500 each: Charles & Judith Cannon, Sandy Patano, Todd Brinkmeyer, Tom Malzahn, Dr. Jack Riggs, NIPAC and Committee to Elect Jim Hammond. You can read her report here.

Question: Which is more important — more money or far more smaller donors?
