Artists Ready To ‘Emerge’ Friday

Kimber Follevaag holds the position of a piece of art on the wall as Otis Bardwell, reflected in a mirror, right, considers the arrangement Tuesday while preparing for St. Vincent de Paul Art on the Edge’s Emerge art show. Both volunteers are Coeur d’Alene artists who will have work in the exhibit that is scheduled to take place Friday from 5:00 p.m. until midnight at the old Wiggett Building on 4th Street and Lakeside. Coeur d'Alene's historic Wiggett Building will breathe with life again Friday as local artists and bands gather to celebrate their talents for the first Emerge show. The free public event will feature more than 25 artists and 125 pieces of work in a variety of media from 5 p.m. to midnight. Local bands and musicians - including the Frantz Brothers, Morgan Dodge and a belly dance troupe - will perform throughout the night. Emerge is the first event to grace the Wiggett Building since 2006 when the Wiggett Antique Marketplace moved. The building at Fourth Street and Lakeside Avenue in downtown Coeur d'Alene was built in 1928 for retailer Montgomery Ward. It served as the antique marketplace for 18 years/Coeur d'Alene Press.
